Born on 7 April 1978 in the vibrant city of Johannesburg, Tebogo G. Tlhopane began his academic pursuits at the University of South Africa, training as a Business Analyst.
From the onset of his professional journey, Tebogo displayed a fierce entrepreneurial drive, bypassing the typical employment trajectory. His early role as an IT Technician with TransWorld International saw him intricately involved in the challenges of the Y2K Project in 1999. By 2001, he transitioned to Sebros Communication, immersing himself in software development.
2002 witnessed Tebogo’s rise as COO for eVoucher. His technological prowess further flourished as IT Director with Sandulela Telecoms International, shaping the future of tech solutions.
The lure of international ventures beckoned, and by 2005, Tebogo had ventured to China, joining Taobao as a Project Manager, masterfully crafting payment gateways. The charm of Southeast Asia continued to draw him, leading him to Thailand’s BD Group by 2010, delving into the world of diamond processing and jewellery sales. This stint was followed by his role as Director at VLG Diamond, a position he held until 2016, overseeing jewellery manufacturing processes.
But beneath these technological and commercial strides echoed Tebogo’s profound connection to ancestral healing traditions, a bond nurtured by his lineage of esteemed Sangomas. In 2017, this connection birthed Biomuti (Pty) Ltd. Here, Tebogo embarked on a mission to harness South Africa’s biodiverse plant medicine, emphasizing the potent medicinal properties of cannabis.
In 2018, a deeply personal venture saw its genesis. Alongside his wife and mother, Tebogo co-founded the HealThySelf Foundation NPC, illuminating his commitment to holistic well-being and community enhancement.
Taking his advocacy a step further, Tebogo, in 2019, stepped into the role of Chairman for the Cannabis Trade Association Africa (CTAA). Here, he championed the recognition, regulation, and growth potential of cannabis in the sphere of health and wellness.
